OSDAR Scholarship Program
General Program Guidelines
- OSDAR Scholarships are awarded to qualified applicants regardless of race, religion, creed, or area of study. The applicant does not need to be a member of DAR to apply. The scholarship is to be considered a one-time award. Recipients chosen are not eligible to re-apply.
- All applications must be submitted through an Oklahoma DAR chapter. The chapter does not need to endorse the applicant, but the application must be checked for completeness. Applicants may find chapter contact information on the Chapters by City page.
NOTE: Transcripts and financial information that are received by the chapter in a sealed envelope are not opened by the chapter. Those documents will be opened and reviewed by the state chairman and the judges. - Applicants must be currently enrolled in an Oklahoma college or university in the fall semester preceding the award.
An official transcript for this semester will be required
NOTE: High school seniors who are concurrently enrolled in an Oklahoma university or college for the fall semester of their senior year in high school are eligible to apply. They must also submit a transcript for their high school senior fall semester. - Applications are to be submitted in January following the fall semester of any given year. The awards will be made at the annual State Conference in the spring and the monies will be paid for the upcoming fall semester of that year.
- Applicants must furnish a completed application, financial need form, letters of recommendation, extra-curricular activity list, and a statement of academic goals along with the official transcript. ACT or SAT scores should be furnished if available.
- Judging of applications will be done by individuals who are not members of DAR. It is the responsibility of the
Oklahoma Scholarship Chairman to select the judges in consultation with the OSDAR Board Scholarship Advisors appointed by the State Regent. - The application will be evaluated by the judges using weighted scoring in the following areas: completeness of
application, neatness in preparation, financial need, extra-curricular activities, letters of recommendation, GPA, course of study, and well-defined academic goals. - The Scholarship Award will be paid directly to the Registrar’s Office at the recipient’s college or university following
notification by the Registrar that the recipient has enrolled for the fall semester.
